Based in Malaysia, Ilmi Khalid founded Seni Bilah Melayu in July 2025. His martial arts education began in 2007, and he continues to learn, practise and refine his understanding.
He teaches through Bladeart Studio in Ara Damansara, with programmes covering Malay blade arts, Silat Tomoi, private sessions and seminars.
The work is shaped by an insistence that a teacher must remain a student.
Beyond the studio

SBM develops through local teaching and international relationships.
In October 2026, Ilmi visited Germany for Seni Bilah Melayu seminars and training sessions, strengthening SBM’s relationships with practitioners there.
He is also scheduled to teach as a guest instructor at Martial Arts Day in Stadthagen, Germany, on 29 May 2027.
