The curriculum

THE ART.

A weapons-centred system complemented by empty-hand methods and Silat Tomoi.

01 / Core practice

MALAY
BLADE ARTS.

Weapons remain central to Seni Bilah Melayu.

SBM includes practice with the belati and kerambit, alongside other weapons within the founder’s studied martial arts background. Training develops coordination, judgement, range, movement and technical understanding through supervised drills.

Instruction is adapted to students’ experience, with appropriate safety measures and training equipment.

02 / Supporting practice

EMPTY
HANDS.

Seni Pukulan and Seni Kuncian complement the weapon-based curriculum.

Empty-hand methods develop striking, control, positioning and the ability to work through transitions. These practices form part of the wider system without replacing its weapon-centred focus.

03 / Striking module

SILAT
TOMOI.

Silat Tomoi is the empty-hand striking module within Seni Bilah Melayu.

Training includes structured striking practice, combinations, footwork and physical conditioning. Sessions emphasise active learning, accuracy, controlled training and incremental progress.

Silat Tomoi is taught as part of SBM’s wider curriculum and is also available as a training focus in its own right.

Training responsibility

PRACTISE WITH
CONTROL.

Martial arts and weapons training carry inherent risks. Training is supervised and appropriate protective measures are used. Our website is an introduction to the art, not a substitute for qualified instruction.
